GA Henty Books Historical Novels by GA Henty (1832-1902) writen specifically for boys. Each story is based on the central character being a young adolescent boy set in a time in history of great importance. Through out the story the central character meets the great characters of history for that time period such as King Harold and William the Conquerer in Wulf the Saxon or Pharoh and Prince Moses in The Cat of Bubastes. GA Henty went to great lengths to make the historical aspect of the story very acurate and as a consequence your boy will learn history as well as be entertained while he reads. These books are highly recommended.

C S Lewis No collection of books for boys would be complete without the famous series Chronicles of Narnia. Originally written to communicate the gospel story in allegory, these have become well known classics as well as fun fantasy stories that boys of all ages love.
J R R Tolkien. The recent Lord of the Rings Trilogy Movies has made Tolkien promenent again. A contemporary and literary friend with C S Lewis, Tolkien's stories are allegorical as well. While the allegories are not as clear as in Narnia, the stories are just as engaging, if not more so. The first couple books listed below will set the stage for the Lord of the Ring series as they are the stories that come before the now well known trilogy. We have also recommended the unabridged audio set read by Rob Inglis, we have listen to these several times and have come to love these recordings.
These are the Audio books read by Rob Inglis, a seasoned actor. I'm confident you'll love the quality.
Max Anderson. Mr. Anderson was a boy who didn't like to read. He didn't like to read because it was difficult to do so. He has now become a published author, writing books specifically for boys who were much like himself. Much like the Hardy Boy series, these books are about boy heros. The added value is the Christian values woven into the books. Each of these books was written with boys who have trouble reading in mind.

More Selections. These are some selections that we thought would make great books for boys to read and enjoy.
