Philosophy of Boys Behavior.
We believe that boys are created by God to be unique. As such their behavior is unique from girls. These unique qualities are to be valued rather than trained out of a boy. Qualities such as being active, rough and tumble, expressing his feelings in a way that is uniquely male are some examples of these qualities. It is our belief that these qualities need to be shaped so that a boy grows to be a man with his qualities in tact.
We believe that our society has undergone significant transformation over the past 50 years and has resulted in some negative consequences for boys and men. There is a growing pressure on men to behave in ways that have been foreign to men for centuries. As a result there is growing evidence that boys struggle with these changes in that boys get into significantly more trouble and are struggling mightily with school. Men are disgruntled with the need to be more feminine and women are receiving mixed messages as to what a man should be creating undue stress in male-female relationships.
We believe that in order for boys and men to thrive in our society, society must learn to appreciate the qualities that make boys and men unique. Much like any other group of people that have called for societal change, it our belief that society has the ability to accommodate the unique qualities of men as well as find ways to make these qualities work in a rapidly changing world.
We believe that efforts to make people more androgynous is erroneous and will only lead to further problems for individuals and for society. We believe that God has created unique qualities in men and women and that any effort to erase these differences is misguided and at times dangerous.
